Fear is normal – and we take it seriously

The fear of pain often leads to putting off a visit to the dentist for a long time. Fear is an unpleasant, but normal and in many cases sensible feeling.

Our treatment approach takes your individual situation into account. We take care to keep treatments as free of pain and discomfort as possible. What matters is that you experience the procedure without fear, relaxed and calm. Stress-free, gentle treatment and procedures that are barely noticeable are a matter of course for us – and at the same time they support a swift recovery.

Relaxed patient during the treatment

Anaesthesia and sedation

With our anaesthesia team we are able to treat completely free of pain not only under local anaesthetic but also under sedation (twilight sedation) and general anaesthesia. Pain relief can today be dosed precisely and safely.

Before a procedure we inform you about risks and any follow-up treatment that may be necessary and, where appropriate, present alternative methods to you. Which anaesthetic procedure is best for a given procedure is something we decide together with our anaesthetist and with you.

With gentle treatment options, minimally invasive procedures and individual pain relief we clearly reduce the strain on our patients.

The most important points at a glance

  • Fear of the treatment is normal – we adapt the procedure accordingly.
  • Local anaesthetic, sedation (twilight sedation) and general anaesthesia are possible.
  • Before the procedure we explain risks, follow-up treatment and alternatives.
  • After sedation or anaesthesia you must not drive yourself on the same day.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between twilight sleep and general anaesthesia?
With twilight sleep (analgosedation) you are deeply relaxed and notice hardly anything of the treatment, but you breathe on your own. Under general anaesthesia you are completely unconscious and are monitored by an anaesthesia team.
Is treatment under general anaesthesia dangerous?
Every anaesthetic carries risks, which today are small thanks to modern techniques and monitoring. Before the procedure there is a separate briefing with the anaesthesia team, in which your pre-existing conditions and medication are taken into account.
Can I have several treatments done in one session?
Particularly with treatment under sedation or general anaesthesia this often makes sense, so that fewer appointments are needed. What can be done in one session depends on the extent of the work and on your state of health.
What does treatment under sedation or general anaesthesia cost?
The costs depend on the duration and the technique and are in many cases not covered by the German statutory health insurance. You receive a written breakdown in advance.
I am ashamed of the state of my teeth. How do you deal with that?
Matter-of-factly and without reproach. Our job is to help you - not to judge how things got to this point. Just tell us what is on your mind.
