A harmonious smile begins with the correct position of the teeth

Healthy and attractive teeth influence speech, underline a well-groomed personality and signal health and vitality. A radiant smile is an expression of joy in life and conveys recognition, self-confidence and success.

Orthodontics, however, is far more than aesthetics: misaligned teeth and jaws put strain on the chewing system, make oral hygiene more difficult and encourage caries, gum inflammation and temporomandibular joint problems. We detect such developments early and treat them with methods that suit the age and the circumstances of our patients.

Straightening teeth in children and adults

Depending on age and findings there are different treatment paths. The aim is always a chewing system that is aesthetically convincing and healthy and balanced in its function.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age should my child first see an orthodontist?
A first appointment makes sense as soon as the upper and lower front teeth have come through – usually between the ages of six and eight. If the milk dentition already shows something unusual, for example a crossbite or a pronounced lack of space, an earlier check-up can be advisable.
Can teeth still be straightened as an adult?
Yes. What matters is not your age but the condition of the tooth-supporting tissue. If it is healthy, teeth can be moved at almost any age. Before treatment starts we check this with an overview radiograph and a periodontal examination.
How long does orthodontic treatment take?
Early treatment in the milk dentition usually takes about a year and a half. Fixed braces in the permanent dentition normally stay in place for one to two years. A retainer then secures the result.
Are clear aligners as effective as fixed braces?
For many misalignments aligners are an equivalent alternative. With pronounced displacements or skeletal discrepancies, however, a fixed appliance or a combined treatment is the more reliable solution. We will discuss in the consultation what suits your situation.
What does the statutory health insurance cover?
For children and adolescents, cover depends on the classification into the orthodontic indication groups (KIG). From KIG 3 upwards the statutory health insurance pays for standard care. For adults, cover is only provided in a few exceptional cases. Before treatment begins you receive a transparent treatment and cost plan from us.
