Orthodontics knows no age limit

In adults, correcting the position of the teeth is readily possible if the periodontium is healthy. A panoramic X-ray (OPG) and a periodontal examination provide information about this.

Once the foundation is in place, the question is how discreet the treatment should be – from the classic fixed appliance to nearly invisible aligner therapy.

Aligners: the comfortable solution for a correction

Gaps and crooked teeth can nowadays be treated entirely without metal in the mouth. With removable, flexible and transparent plastic aligners, the correction is particularly discreet and aesthetic. We use custom-made aligners that are almost invisible and do not get in the way in everyday life.

The correction aligners made individually for you are changed regularly and thus move your teeth step by step into the desired position.

Discreet, removable, plannable

Almost invisible

The transparent aligners are barely noticeable in conversation and in photos.

No issue when eating

The aligners are simply taken out for eating and for cleaning the teeth.

No disturbing feeling when speaking

The smooth plastic fits closely; brackets and wires are not needed.

Step by step to the goal

Each aligner moves the teeth by fractions of a millimetre – the series is planned digitally in advance.

Keeping the treatment goal in view

Because a single aligner performs only the smallest tooth movements, an entire series is produced for each patient under computer control. In this way we reach the treatment goal gradually, in small, easily controllable steps.

Even before the treatment begins we show you how your teeth are likely to develop.

The most important points at a glance

  • Tooth corrections are also possible in adulthood if the periodontium is healthy.
  • Before treatment begins there is a panoramic X-ray (OPG) and a periodontal examination.
  • Transparent aligners are barely visible in everyday life and are taken out for eating.
  • The series of aligners is planned digitally in advance; each aligner moves the teeth minimally.
  • For patients with statutory health insurance, coverage of the costs in adulthood is only provided for in exceptional cases.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I too old for a brace at 40 or 50?
No. Teeth can be moved at any age as long as the supporting structures are healthy. Where periodontitis has been treated beforehand, a correction is often possible too - but the inflammation must be under control first.
Are the aligners noticeable when I talk?
The transparent aligners are hardly noticeable in everyday life. After a short period of getting used to them, they do not interfere with speaking either.
How many hours a day do I have to wear the aligners?
As a guide, around 20 to 22 hours a day; they are taken out for eating, drinking (except water) and cleaning your teeth. The more consistently you wear them, the more the treatment follows the plan.
Will my teeth stay straight after the treatment?
Teeth have a tendency to drift slowly back. That is why we secure the result with a retainer or a night splint. This aftercare is a firm part of the treatment.
