Bleaching treatment at the practice

Individual whitening of the teeth

Signs of ageing, medication, tobacco and coffee discolour the teeth. Simply brushing the teeth, even with special toothpastes, can only lighten them to a limited extent.

Whether a single tooth or a complete row of teeth: strikingly white teeth can be achieved with bleaching. We show you all the options – from simple whitening with a gel to thermocatalytic bleaching using additional heat. Before bleaching, your teeth are cleaned professionally.

Which method is the right one?

The whitening takes the harmony of your face into account

Which method is used in a particular case depends on the individual starting situation. Should the teeth darken again after some time, the bleaching procedure can be repeated.

At Zahnzentrum Frankfurter Bogen we advise our patients in detail and choose a degree of whitening that takes the harmony of the face into account.

The most important points at a glance

  • During bleaching, discolouration in the enamel is lightened with a whitening gel.
  • Before the treatment there is a check-up and usually a professional tooth cleaning.
  • Crowns, bridges, veneers and fillings cannot be lightened at the same time.
  • How long the result lasts varies depending on diet and smoking habits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does whitening damage tooth enamel?
Whitening carried out professionally is regarded as gentle on the enamel. The prerequisites are that decay and gum inflammation have been treated beforehand and that the concentration of the whitening agent is monitored by the dentist.
Why don't crowns and fillings get lighter?
Ceramic and composite do not react to the whitening gel. If you have visible restorations, we plan the whitening so that the tooth shades match afterwards - fillings may be renewed after the treatment.
Will my teeth be sensitive afterwards?
Temporary sensitivity to cold is possible and usually subsides within a few days. We give you advice on how to ease it.
How long does the result last?
That depends a great deal on your habits. Coffee, tea, red wine, nicotine and strongly colouring foods make the teeth darken again more quickly. Regular professional tooth cleaning prolongs the result.
