Consultation before the implantation

Step by step to your new teeth

Preliminary treatment: Before an implantation, the teeth are restored at our dental practice at Frankfurter Bogen and any gum disease is treated and healed.

Implantation: After thorough diagnostics and planning we place the implant on an outpatient basis under local anaesthetic, sedation or, on request, under general anaesthesia.

Healing period: During a healing period determined individually – usually 6 to 8 weeks – the bone bonds firmly with the implant and forms a secure basis for the new teeth. During this time we provide you with temporary dentures.

New teeth: Once healing is complete, the new teeth – crowns, bridges, dentures – are attached to the implants at our practice. We look after you throughout the entire treatment period.

  • Regular follow-up appointments help to secure the result in the long term.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many appointments do I need to allow for?
Usually a consultation and planning appointment, the appointment for the procedure, one or two check-ups and the appointments for making the prosthetic restoration. We agree the exact sequence with you individually.
Can I go straight back to work after the procedure?
After a smaller procedure most patients are fit for work the next day. After more extensive procedures you should allow one to two days. If you are treated under sedation or general anaesthetic, you must not drive yourself on the same day.
Will I have a gap in my teeth during the healing phase?
No. For the period until the final restoration you receive a temporary solution, so that you have no visible gap either when speaking or when laughing.
Who looks after me during the treatment?
You stay in our practice throughout – from diagnostics through the surgical procedure to the finished restoration. The dental laboratory is affiliated as well, so that adjustments can be made at short notice.
